The one health number most people over 40 never check
High blood pressure has no symptoms. A cuff at home is the simplest way to know where you stand.
Roughly half of adults with high blood pressure do not know they have it. It causes no symptoms until it causes a stroke or heart attack, and a single reading at the doctor's office can be misleading in either direction.
How to take a good reading
- Sit with your back supported and feet flat for five minutes first.
- Put the cuff on bare skin on your upper arm, at heart height.
- Do not talk. Take two or three readings a minute apart and average them.
The bits Cuff walks you through each of these steps on its display and does the averaging for you.
Why home readings matter
A week of morning and evening readings tells your doctor far more than one number taken after you rushed into the clinic. The app turns those readings into a one-page report built for exactly that conversation.
